Yala Milk Processing Factory has taken a major step toward full-scale operations by acquiring new processing machines valued at more than 30 million Birr. The newly purchased equipment was delivered to the city, marking a significant milestone for the region’s dairy industry.

During a visit to the factory, Markos Mateus, Mayor of Arba Minch City Administration, emphasized the city's abundant natural and man-made resources, noting that many remain underutilized. He highlighted the economic and employment benefits that the factory will bring to the city, stressing its importance in driving industrial and agricultural growth.

Mr. Tiko Tlante, Deputy Administrator of Gamo Zone and Head of the Agriculture Department, stated that the Yala Milk Processing Factory is the only facility of its kind in the agro-industry sector within the zone. He pointed out that Gamo Zone is home to over 2 million Dalga cattle, with 700,000 currently producing milk. He emphasized that with improved breeding practices, milk production could increase significantly, allowing more farmers to benefit from the factory.

Ato Alemayehu Israel, Deputy Manager of Yala Milk Processing Factory, confirmed that the installation of the new machinery will be completed within 15 days, enabling the factory to begin operating at full capacity. He also acknowledged the Ethiopian Development Bank’s Arba Minch branch for providing financial and technical support. The factory has been actively engaging in awareness campaigns to connect local farmers with resources, ensuring a sustainable supply chain for dairy production.

Ato Alemayehu further announced a five-year plan to create 4,000 job opportunities, reinforcing the factory's commitment to economic empowerment and community development.

Ms. Melissa Fraser, a representative of USAID, expressed her support for the project, calling Arba Minch a land of blessings and affirming USAID’s commitment to working alongside private investors to ensure the success of the Yala Milk Processing Factory.

With the installation of state-of-the-art equipment and growing collaboration with key stakeholders, Yala Milk Processing Factory is poised to transform the dairy industry in Gamo Zone, creating new economic opportunities for farmers and businesses alike.
